This is a gorgeous shot! I'm a freak about b&w myself and often convert some of my color shots to b&w for dramatic effect.
But... Given the time of year, and guessing from the tone and texture that those leaves are a bright yellow, is it allowed to ask... [Roy digs toe in dirt and turns his hat around and around in his hands...] Can we see this in color, too? That yellow looks like it has to be practically incandescent (there are a few Maples just up the street from me that I swear you could read by at night, the yellow is so bright on them), and I'd love to see it. Please?
Thanks guys!! As I was editing my photos (from a trip to Chicago), this one stood out as a winner once I made it B&W. The color photo is still great....I put it up on behalf of Roy's request ;)
Heh, heh! Thanks, Candace! Yup, that's a nice, bright yellow, and another place that looks like you could read there at night by the light of that yellow. I like how it contrast with the bluish cast of the shade.
Thanks for posting both photos Candace. I still like the B&W one best, but the color is nice, too. I know what you mean about photos standing out once they get switched to B&W - I find that to be the case with quite a few of mine. Thanks for all your comments over on my photo blog, by the way.

Very dramatic, yet there is a sense of stillness to it. I like this one a lot.
